Six Sigma Fitness™ is a system that contains a framework called DMAIC that drives a client-focused change methodology, housed within an integrated technology platform to help coaches record, organize and analyze client data to improve client outcomes and performance. It was developed to be simple, clean and streamlined. Most input can be done in a matter of minutes on a laptop, tablet or smartphone and the backbone technology and artificial intelligence built into the system do all the heavy work.
The end result of the methodology is a systematic approach to improving the way individuals make incremental process improvements with their health, fitness and lifestyle habits. The flexible methodology framework allows the Coach/Practitioner to work interactively with their clients to systematically enhance the individualized programs they use to achieve optimal health and fitness at significantly reduced time and expense to the health practice and its clients.
Six Sigma Fitness™ is not a scientific theory, but rather an application framework to apply scientific theory in the health and fitness sciences. In all sciences you have both theory and application and Six Sigma Fitness™ focuses on the application of the scientific theory. There are already many top-notch scientifically based educational programs and certifications in the health and fitness industry, but there are no scientifically valid and process tested approaches to integrating the science and applying it with a client in the clinic or the field outside of the medical profession. With a proper scientific education and this applied framework, the non-licensed professional now has a professional system to manage subclinical health problems that don't rise to the level of a disease or disorder requiring licensed medical attention. In fact, when applied properly, the Six Sigma Fitness™ will reduce the risks associated with future disease profiles thus increasing longevity and quality of life. We simplify the process funnel, make data aggregation and data history simple to gather and store, let the computers do the analytical math and create a solution based approach to getting your clients the results they want.
Residing within the Six Sigma Fitness™ Program are scientifically valid methodologies and recommended tools to “apply” the scientific methods. Those methods include various third-party scientifically valid methodologies of which Six Sigma Fitness™ has developed one of the main proprietary measurement methodologies, the Regional Adipose Tissue Deposit Profile (RATDP) from which the core of the program begins with and creates its foundation from.
The Six Sigma Fitness™ Program is both an educational and certifiable body of knowledge much like Six Sigma for business. In addition, it is a framework of methodologies to be applied in different scenarios, all that normally require a high level of expertise and understanding to use and apply them, but are simplified by the technology backbone to assist in there application.
Learning the framework and the concepts behind how to apply Six Sigma, constitutes the Level 1 certification. With each successive level, more intricate methodologies can be introduced to meet the needs of the various goals and objectives that an individual requires to reach optimal health, fitness and performance. For an example of the DMAIC framework applied to metabolic damage and reverse dieting read this lesson:
The Metabolic Theory of Reverse Dieting – Scam or Reality?
The basic problem solving Framework for Six Sigma is called DMAIC and stands for Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. The Six Sigma Fitness technology and cloud based platform assists the Coach/Practitioner with all aspects of the framework.
Six Sigma Fitness™ 5 Step DMAIC Theoretical Model
The implementation of Six Sigma Fitness™ includes 5 steps (DMAIC) that you will learn in our certification program:
- Define the system by documenting the client/athlete's health symptoms, record the voice of the client and their requirements and health goals, specifically.
- Measure key aspects of their current health and fitness and collect relevant data.
- Analyze the data to investigate and verify cause-and-effect relationships. Determine what the relationships are, and attempt to ensure that all factors have been considered. Seek out root cause of the health symptom under investigation.
- Improve or optimize the current health process (movement, lifestyle habits and patterns, nutrition and supplements) based upon data analysis using techniques such as "design of experiments" (Ultrasound body composition, Functional Movement Screens, VO2 tests), "poka yoke" (pronounced POH-KA-YOKE) or better known as "mistake proofing" (regular standardized assessment and testing feedback, educational programs to stop bad habits), and standard work (assessment driven programming, nutritional recommendations and supplementation protocols) to create a new, future state process a.k.a a better, improved, healthier and higher performing human being.
- Control the "future state process" to ensure that any deviations from target are corrected before they result in adverse health symptoms or performance decline. Implement control systems such as statistical process control (continuous assessment and testing against norms and ideals), health dashboards, visual programming, and continuously monitor the health process.
